The 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards: Who Were The Big Winners?

The first awards show of the year has now come and gone. The 74th annual Golden Globe Awards aired tonight and it was definitely a star-studded night to remember with all its big winners. The prestigious award show was held at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. The host of the evening was comedian and talk show host Jimmy Fallon. This was the first time the former “Saturday Night Live” cast member has hosted the Golden Globe Awards. The show started with a musical montage of sorts by Mr. Fallon. Then there was a minor mishap due to the teleprompter going out, but things quickly got back on track and the show never missed a beat.

The Golden Globe Awards celebrates the best of the best in television and film. The night had a lot of first time winners such as Tracee Ellis Ross for “Blackish” and Sarah Paulson for her portrayal of Marcia Clark in “The People Vs O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story”. There was also a touching tribute to the late actress Debbie Reynolds and her daughter the late Carrie Fisher. The night was also filled with a few jabs regarding the nation’s soon to be president. Meryl Streep, the winner of the Cecil B DeMille Award, urged in her speech that people in positions of power needed to be held accountable for their actions.
