What happens when you take a young lady who is tired of being categorized by society? You get singer Ariana Grande and a long winded letter about who she will is and what she will not be referred as.
The 21-year-old singer took to social media over the weekend to share an essay about her thoughts on society’s double standards against women, misogyny, and more. This comes after being sick and tired of being referred to as “Big Sean’s ex”.
“What I meant when I said what I said about not being Sean’s ex is that I am tired of living in a world where women are mostly referred to as a man’s past, present or future PROPERTY / POSSESSION. I… do not. belong. to anyone. but myself. and neither do you.”
We hear you Ariana! And as a society we do know that there is a double standard favoring men while looking down upon women who decide to live their lives freely. Ariana makes great points in her open letter. Double standards have been embedded in us for years and it’s truly about time that women stood up for ourselves and looked past what society thinks of us and how they label us.
Kudos to Ariana for sharing her thoughts and letting you all know she doesn’t belong to anyone but herself and you will treat her as such!
