Bryshere Gray Joins the Cast of BET’s New Edition

Congratulations Yazz! Fox Empire star Bryshere Gray (who portrays the role of youngest Lyon child, Hakeem) has just been added to the cast of the BET New Edition biopic.

New Edition

Bryshere will be portraying group member Michael Bivins, acting alongside the rest of the cast which will include Luke James as Johnny Gill, The Wiz Live star Elijah Kelley as Ricky Bell, Straight Outta Compton‘s Keith Powers as Ronnie DeVoe, Algie Smith as Ralph Tresvant, and Woody McClain as Bobby Brown.

Five of New Edition’s members are consulting and executive producing the film so there should be no confusion or flops unlike some of the other biopics we’ve seen in the last few years. The script was written by Abdul Williams and the movie is being directed by ATL director, Chris Robinson.

New Edition: The Movie will be separated into three parts, with plans to start production in May.

It is scheduled to air in 2017.

In the meantime, you can catch Bryshere every Wednesday night on the hit show “Empire” which stars Terrence Howard, Taraji P. Henson, Trai Byers, Kaitlin Doubleday, Grace Gealey and Jussie Smollett. Check out some of New Edition’s music videos below and let us know your predictions on how this biopic will pan out.

Beyond the words, lies a young woman… A young woman filled with drive, determination, pride, passion, and an insatiable hunger for more. A young woman who is a self-proclaimed artist, but not in the sense that she can paint a mural. She’s a verbal artist who paints pictures with words. Her beauty is more than skin deep, it lies within the lines of her words. And she’s making a name for herself as your new favorite writer.
