I honestly don’t believe you guys know how much I actually look forward to Mondays. While most people are moaning and groaning about being back to the “real world” and “back to their slave ship jobs”, I’m sitting over here excited about researching, planning and selecting our new #Bae. Today’s #CelebrityCrush is no stranger to the entertainment industry. He’s the best friend and younger brother to sister in my head Brandy and these days, he’s forging his own path. That’s right, y’all; Ray J is our #CelebrityCrush for today.
In 1989, at the age of eight, Ray J began auditioning for different roles and appearing in television commercials; he played the foster son in The Sinbad Show, from 1993 to 1994. This time period in his life would begin to shape his acting career. According to Bradley Torreano of AllMusic, “his easygoing image and boyish looks appealed to the producers of Brandy’s television show, Moesha, giving him a role on the UPN series as Dorian “D-Money”, a role he played from 1999 until the show ended in 2001.
Ray J is not only an actor but he has held down a career as a singer/songwriter too. He signed to Elektra Records in 1995 and he began to record his 15-track debut album ‘Everything You Want’ the same year. “Let It Go” appeared on the Set It Off soundtrack. It peaked number 25 in the U.S. n 1998, he appeared on the Doctor Dolittle soundtrack with the single “That’s Why I Lie”. He produced for toy company Mattel, putting together the music for several commercials and a few of the demos for his second record.
These days we can catch Ray J on Love and Hip Hop: LA alongside his wife Princess Love whom he wed in August of 2016, Teairra Mari, Safaree, and a host of others. I’m not going to lie, I’ve always loved Ray’s boyish good looks and his singing voice always lulls me. Maybe after today he can be your #Bae too!
