Many women suffer from uterine fibroids daily. In fact, most women rarely know they have them because often they cause no symptoms. Unfortunately, uterine fibroids are most common in African American women, but there has been little awareness brought about the subject. “Real Housewife Of Atlanta” star Cynthia Bailey is on a mission to stop that.
Cynthia shed some light on this common problem while filming her reality show. Fans were able to follow Cynthia on her journey as she got the fibroids removed. Now, Cynthia has partnered up with Dr. John C. Lipman in hopes to educate more women about uterine fibroids. Cynthia also wants to educate women on a minimally invasive procedure that doesn’t require a hysterectomy.
Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE)
The procedure is called Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE), and Dr. Lipman was the first to perform a UFE in Georgia. Since performing his first UFE, Dr. Lipman has gained the title of the world’s most experienced UFE physician. USA Today, CNN, and The Wall Street Journal have all featured Dr. Lipman. Supermodel Beverly Johnson chose Dr. Lipman as the National Physician Spokesperson for her Fibroid Awareness Campaign.
Dr. Lipman has now added filmmaker to his resume by creating a documentary “Freedom From Fibroids”. The documentary will focus on women’s stories and how they have become free of fibroids. One of the stories featured will be Cynthia Bailey who will also serve as host of the film’s premiere. The film was narrated by Atlanta Broadcast Journalist Monica Pearson. The documentary will premiere in Atlanta on April 27th. The event will be presented by Dr. John Lipman, FSIR, and Atlanta Fibroid Center. You can watch a preview of “Freedom From Fibroids” here.
So, what are your thoughts? Did you feel this documentary will bring more awareness to this medical issue?
