At some point last year there was a shift and athleisure was born…
I’m not really clear if it was because of Rita Ora and the reinvention/do over of her collection with Adidas, or Gigi Hadid captured by photog’s leaving Equinox in her yoga pants and a trench coat, but there came a point where wearing your work-out clothes to work became a thing and we all let it happen.
No, really there are photo’s of Kate Hudson sashaying through aspen in her fabletics, while looking carefree and fab, there is even a name for it: athleisure.
Like everything in life there are levels to this… so let’s look at some do’s and dont’s for making sure you get to work and (ultimately) the gym in style.
Coordinate your look, your neon green earrings matching your shoes doesn’t count, however you can add a pop of color with your blazer or you can throw on a unique top.
Get too comfortable and not dress up your top or put forth the effort to incorporate your personal style, you are at work for goodness sakes.
Remember the cut of your tops and pants, if you don’t work from home you may want to reconsider basing your outfit off of the audition scene from Flash Dance.
Show up to work looking like you just fought a tiger, or like the club is REALLY your next stop.
Where a dress to work, especially if tennis is your game, the transition is seamless.
Forget that you are not Serena, keep it classy and mid-thigh length, for the office.
