Congratulations are in order for music artist Ed Sheeran who will make a cameo during Season 7 of the hit series “Game of Thrones”. *in my Martin voice* You go boy!
According to the Hollywood Reporter, show creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss revealed the big news this past Sunday during a packed-house SXSW panel for the HBO show.
“For years, we’ve tried to get Ed Sheeran on the show to surprise Maisie (Williams), and this year, we finally did it!” David Benioff announced. A spokeswoman for the HBO Network confirmed the appearance but did not provide further details on the role that Sheeran would play, what episode he’d be in or if his character would gain more camera time than the average cameo.
“Game of Thrones” is a HBO fantasy series, which is the network’s most watched show ever and a winner of 38 Emmys! The show is set to continue for another two seasons before calling it quits on the stories of Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen and the other inhabitants of the Seven Kingdoms.
While the show’s success is clearly undeniable at the moment, it wasn’t always that way. D.B. Weiss and David Benioff both recalled a moment not long after the pilot aired when they tried to console actresses Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner who were crying at their wrap party. “There was a very good chance that the show wouldn’t get picked up because we made a lot of mistakes with the pilot.” Benioff said. “I told you guys it would be okay, but I honestly had no idea.”
