I think my fellow 80s babies will agree with me when I say that “The Wonder Years” was one of the greatest shows on television. “The Wonder Years” was a great show not because it was a wholesome family show, but because it introduced millions of young girls to Fred Savage! During that era, Fred Savage was every preteen’s MCM! Since the end of the show, Savage has graced our small screens from time to time, and his been seen frequently as a cohost on “Live With Kelly”. Well, I have good news! Fred Savage is making a comeback as the host of a new game show.
Recently, it was announced that Fred Savage will be the host of a new ABC game show called “Child Support”. The show comes from Ricky Gervais and Banijay Studios North America, and will be an hour-long studio based show. The game show will feature adult contestants and their interactions with Ricky Gervais and a small group of kids ranging from 6 to 9 years old.
What Will The Kids Say?
The contestants will be asked to answer 10 questions to win the top prize. If they answer incorrectly, they have a chance to be saved by one of the children who have been asked the same questions. So of course, the kid’s answers will be unpredictable which makes for good television. Savage shared his thoughts about his new hosting gig.
“When I’m stumped, I turn to Google and my kids. I had no idea there was a television show in that, but now that there is, I’m thrilled to be a part of it.”
Robert Mills, Senior Vice President of Alternative Series, Specials, & Late Night Programming at ABC Entertainment, also shared his thoughts on the upcoming game show.
“With Fred’s charisma and Ricky Gervais’ hilarious interactions with the kids, ‘Child Support’ is going to be a terrific addition to our game show slate.”
There is no official word yet on when the show will make its debut.
So, what are your thoughts? Will you be tuning in to catch this new game show? Let me know in the comments.
