“Swimsuit season” isn’t really that far off and to be honest; I really don’t care.
You really don’t have to do anything special to prepare for summer, you should be taking care of yourself year-round, but don’t tell that to January (pick a year). If you’re a plus sized woman you know that you can get a swimsuit that fits your body and makes you feel amazing, but moving isn’t a monopoly held by the skinny, neither is Summer. With that being said, here are a few things that you can do to get moving and get you closer to that “Summer body” ( I threw that in for fun), just because you can, not because you have to.
Walking is the easiest form of movement you can do. When you think about it, you do it everyday, so try adding in an additional 30 min. a day to make a difference that you can see and feel. Walk at a swift pace and build up your stamina and distance, to help shape your butt legs and tummy.
You bought the suit, so why not actually use it? Swimming works out your entire body, literally. Everything is moving and the water allows you to be weightless, taking stress of your joints. You can add weights and even learn to perfect exercises, like squats when it’s a little easier to find the right 90 degree angle.
Stretching is key. You have to keep yourself limber and just because you’re plus sized doesn’t mean you can’t do the moves. You can use your body just as much as people smaller than you, and you can find yoga studios that cater to big beautiful women, such as yourself. Yoga also helps with stress and the breathing can assist with weight loss.
Sometimes you need to work out in a way that fits your body, try this modification video to get you started.
All in all exercise is about staying healthy and maintaining a positive body image, the one that you really want.
