The April issue of Kontrol Magazine is special in so many ways to me. Not only is this the first issue to hit newsstands but it's the accomplishment of a dream come true.  I remember coming up with the idea to start Kontrol as if it were yesterday. I was a waiter at Cheesecake Factory and was so tired of asking the industry to simply take notice that I decided to take control of my own destiny and do what I needed to do to make my dreams come true. Three years later, here we are. Kontrol is sitting proudly on shelves. It's a great accomplishment for me because so many people told me I couldn't do it and that it would fail, but against all odds, we're here. Faith is a beautiful thing!

As you flip through these pages you will not only see beautiful fashion and beauty layouts but well crafted stories that will touch your heart and your minds. The Decade's Issue is look at our past, present and future in all things entertainment, beauty, fashion and lifestyle. We invite you to take this journey with us as we do our best to offer the avid reader something new and different.

The Decades Issue is special because my staff is special. Everyone here works so hard to bring each reader a new outlook on fashion, entertainment, beauty and lifestyle. Every week I watch my staff push to give a bit more of themselves to the magazine and its readers. Here at Kontrol, were a family and families make each day worth fighting for.

I would like to dedicate this issue to my best friends who have passed on but share this dream with me still Mr. Shaun Colbert and Mr. Demarcus Woodard. I love you both and I know you're watching down on me and smiling. Also to my mom, dad, brother and sisters, and my better half, Jerome ,who always have my back. I love you all.
