Last week, I got a special invite to stop by the Marc Jacobs showroom in SoHo, New York for an early preview of the MBMJ Fall 2014 collections. The brand had the entire lines–men’s, women’s, accessories, and footwear–on full display for the evening’s attendees, which included bloggers, models, members of the buying community, and a few NYC socialites. Believe me when I say there is a lot of awesome stuff in store for us next season.
Described as “ninja-pop-militant” by Style.com, the collection was filled with Japanese, military, and BMX/motocross influences. Flipping through the lookbooks and runway images is one thing, but actually seeing the garments up close and in person is a completely different experience. The color was bright and abundant throughout each line and the energy was on 100%. As far as other visual elements, tartan played a noticeable role in the collection, as well as exciting graphics, like the tiger arm, and popping text spread across dresses, jackets, shirts, and more. In the men’s world, standout elements include the BMX-styled shirts and trousers, huge puffer jackets, robed coats, and multiple pairs of crazy Bernhard Willhelm-inspired sneakers. You can take a look at my favorite lookbook shots below, in addition to some images from the event.
