Marc Jacobs has been posting pictures from his 2016 fall collection. Jacobs surprised everyone when he posted a picture of Missy Elliot staring in his campaign.
“Missy’s music has kept me and my design team happily energized through countless weekdays, weeknights and weekends during those long hours of sketching, fitting, styling and doing looks,” Marc Jacobs wrote on his Instagram.
Since the beginning of the week, Jacobs have been releasing photos from his new campaign. Jacobs has written detailed bios for each of his campaign models, explain why they inspired him.
“The individuals in these photographs represent a collective embodiment of love, honesty, integrity, courage, strength, curiosity, and inspiration,” Jacobs said. “Together, as one story, this collection is a reminder to question and challenge normal and to continue exploring and pushing boundaries.”
In true Jacobs form, he is breaking all of fashion’s rules and casting the not so typical models for this campaign. Genesis P-Orridge, a gender-ambiguous, pandrogynous performance artist has also starred in the collection. The first gay couple to sign to a modeling agency, John Tuite and Carlos Santolalla “Jarlos”, is photographed wearing womenswear in one of Jacob’s post.
The collection is somewhat spooky and gothic. Jacobs has all fashion insiders waiting for more hints of his new collection. If it is anything like the release he did for Spring 2016 campaign he will issuing images over the next few weeks to tease us along. There are still more faces to be announced, so stay tuned.
