Cover Girl continues to make history. On the heels of the makeup giant announcing it first male spokesmodel ( Makeup Artist James Charles), the company has put another crack in the glass ceiling of inclusivity naming Muslim beauty vlogger, Nura Afia as the newest ambassador.

This is a big win for Cover Girl. The picture of beauty remains narrow, but the companies’ commitment to diversify the definition of beauty and provide more inclusivity proves why it is one of the leading cosmetic companies in the world.

Afia is well known for her attention-getting makeup tutorials that she provides in her hijab. She has over 200,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel. She indicated to Glamour magazine that she never thought she would see Muslim women represented on such a large platform. Her candor caught the eye of Cover Girl and she is now a member of Cover Girl’s Lash Equality campaign which promotes inclusivity within beauty and launches the brand’s new So Lashy! Blast Pro Mascara.

Afia joins ambassadors Amy Pham, Modern Family star Sofia Vergara, singers Chloe + Halle, and Katy Perry. It is a diverse group of beautiful men and women. Nura and the rest of the ambassadors will try out the new mascara, So Lashy! When the commercial airs November 14th.
