“And of course it’s beautiful! That’s what Derek Blanks does.” ~ Vivian Green
Derek Blanks has gone from a sought after photographer in Atlanta to winning Grammy’s and rubbing elbows with television, music and fashion’s elite.
It’s no surprise that his talents have gone into directing. With a great eye for photography and vision, he’s bringing those skills to assist singer Vivian Green.
The “Emotional Rollercoaster” singer gives a little old school in the Derek Blanks directed video “Get Right Back To My Baby.”
No stranger to directing, Blanks also directed Faith Evans’ 2014 hit “Fragile” which stared Pooch Hall of BET’s “The Game” fame.
Now the song was originally released back in 2014, but finally has the visual to assist it. Sampling Frankie Beverly & Maze’s “Before I Let Go,” Green keeps it simple and fun for this picture.
With lyrics like:
Stuck in transit all day dreaming
Miss you bad, so many reasons
Most of all I really want to lay with you

Review: What makes this song and video great is that nothing is overdone, but tasteful. It gives a youthful spend not only on the classic sampling, but it reminds us what it feels like with the new bae…or love, if you prefer that better.
The video introduces Green as a woman high off the interest of her new man that’s causing her to be a little tardy for her own responsibilities.
Produced by Kwame Holland, the dance track keeps the same uptempo beat as the original and doesn’t miss a beat.
When asked on what it’s like to work with the famous Blanks, Green stated:
Working with Derek Blanks was just amazing. I am incredibly camera shy but he pushed me to try something different and leave my comfort zone. It is clearly my best video to date. I’m so excited to hear and see how people respond to it. It brings an already lively song to life! And of course it’s beautiful! That’s what Derek does.
