Tinsel Town town is a hard place to make a name for yourself whether you are an actor/actress, singer, dancer, comedian, or any of the other countless careers tied to Hollywood. There are some people who are destined for greatness, and achieve it by chance, hard work, and networking.
Tyler Perry, Halle Berry, and numerous other huge stars were once homeless, and started from the bottom to achieve success often rejected and overlooked before becoming a household name. Others who make it big do so through nepotism, sheer luck, and hiring an agent. The main ingredient one must have to make it in Hollywood no matter your personal journey is persistence.
There are several up-and-coming actors/actresses who are building a name for themselves and are “Up Next” to become a major star in Tinsel town. Actors of color are clinching roles at record numbers. A decade ago there were few leading roles on primetime television and movies for people of color, but over the past few years there has been a change. It would be hard to catch any network without at least one show in its primary lineup with a diverse cast. Many hope this is not just a fad and remains the standard for decades to come. As a new crop of stars emerge, Kontrol is highlighting stars we believe are “Up Next”. This week we introduce to some, and present to others three actors we think are “Up Next” in Hollywood.
First up, is Logan Browning. You may remember her from her roles on Bratz (Sasha) and Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns (Brianna).
Browning is all grown up and she has starring roles in Netflix’s new series Dear White People and now BET’s Hit The Floor (originally aired on VH1). She transitions from the villain you love to watch on Hit The Floor to the socially conscious student on Dear White People with ease making her one to watch. She is poised to take Tinsel town by storm.

Jazz Raycole is also “Up Next.” She has already built up an incredible resume working alongside veteran actors, Angela Bassett (Waiting to Exhale), Damon Wayans (My Wife and Kids), and Cedric the Entertainer (Soul Man).
She has been working consistently on major films and television sets since her first major role as a child star in 1995. Raycole is now a principle character on BET hit series, The Quad. Anika Noni Rose is an amazing actor, but Jazz proved she could hold her own and become a scene stealer. The Quad has been renewed for a second season and Jazz will likely bring even more star power the second time around.

Closing out this week’s “Up Next” list is Roshon Fegan. Roshon began his claim to fame at 18 months. He is an actor, musician, and overall entertainer. One his first notable career moment was a national soda commercial where he collaborated with Boyz II Men. He credits his first “big break” to his role in Spider Man 2. He is considered a triple threat: actor, dancer, and musician. He is most known for his roles on Disney Channel’s Shake It Up! And Camp Rock.

He can now be seen on OWN’s Greenleaf playing the love interest of Zora Greanleaf. Roshon’s hard work seems to be paying off and may become the next young heart throb in Hollywood.
