Eat Your Way to Beautiful, Glowing Skin
What can you do to get naturally glowing skin? We’ve all heard the saying, “You are what you eat.”
‘Tis is true!
Your skin needs a boost from within to reflect fresh and glowing skin. This is why a diet that consists of a well-rounded balance of healthy fats, protein, and of course… lots of fruits and veggies, is so important! Good nutrition almost guarantees youthful and beautiful looking skin, and the recipe is quite simple.
Here’s a list of my top foods to eat on my journey towards healthy, glowing skin:
Avocados are packed with antioxidants that help soften and hydrate your skin. Avocados allow for some creativity as well! You can choose to eat it by itself, use it as a salad dressing or dip, or add to your smoothie.
Here’s a new one that’s been added to my list, for sure! These seeds offer a load of omega-3 fatty acids and help to alleviate inflammatory skin issues and improve the overall hydration of your skin cells. Fit flax seeds into your diet by adding them to your favorite smoothie!
Tomatoes contain a large amount of natural vitamins and minerals. This vegetable also has been known to stand out in the beauty world due to its addition of lycopene. This particular antioxidant is key to amazing anti-aging skin.
Strawberries are extremely rich in alpha-hydroxyl acid which helps to get rid of dead skin cells. Due to its addition of vitamin C, this fruit also helps to boost collagen production and minimize fine lines and wrinkles.
Carrots have a plethora of health benefits, including improving your eyes and clearing up breakouts. They contain plenty of beta-carotene and vitamin A. Both help to prevent overproduction of cells in the skin’s outer layer which then results in fewer flaky dead cells and clog-free pores.
Beets come loaded with vitamins and minerals such as iron, potassium, copper, niacin, and Vitamin C, that make your skin glow instantly! It’s anti-inflammatory properties also help reduce the appearance of acne and pimples.
Kale is the Queen of Greens, and more importantly the Queen of Beauty! It is loaded with vitamin C, vitamin A, and vitamin K, all which helps to repair skin tissues and give you a radiant and fresh look. Kale’s another one of those food items that allows for creativity! Have it in your smoothie, as a salad, or even potato chips!
Decided to save the best for last! Studies show that those who consume a good amount of red and orange vegetables per day have the greatest sun-kissed complexion. This is because of their addition of disease-fighting compounds called carotenoids that give these plants their colors. Few foods are as rich in the beauty business than a baked sweet potato!
These power foods benefit your skin and body in more ways than one as they also help build brainpower, lower risk for health-related diseases, improve sleep and energy, and so much more.
So, next time you’re out grocery shopping, grab a few or all of these items and be on your way to soft, radiant and blemish-free skin!
