Don’t you dare roll your eyes!
Vegans are here and aren’t going anywhere. Yes, your BFF may have sworn to Veganism after watching health documentaries or after seeing her fave celeb commit to it on social media but so what! BFF may be on to something.
One thing that is for certain is that Veganism isn’t for everyone and it takes a lot of discipline. So what is Veganism? Glad you asked!
Veganism is a lifestyle and vegans are people that do not eat or use animal products. A vegan diet is loaded with nutrients and helps with weight loss and disease prevention. One of the biggest misconceptions is that vegans do not get enough protein. Wrong! Vegans can easily meet the recommendations for protein and you’d be surprised that some of your beloved foods are packed with protein.
- Peanut butter
- Non-dairy milk
- Plant based protein shake
- Sprouted-grain bread
The cool thing about it is that there are a lot of new vegan friendly restaurants popping up everywhere. There are many restaurants that may serve meat but have followed the movement and have updated their menus to include meatless options. There are a plethora of vegan desserts to choose from and the healthy snack selection is even better.
- Vegan yogurt
- Trail mix/ Nuts
Vegan cheat items!
- Famous Amos Peanut Butter Sandwich Cookies
- Sour Patch Kids
- Popcorn (no butter)
- Dark chocolate
As stated before Veganism isn’t for everyone. You may be reading this and thinking about steak at the same time. We get it. Some people have “Meatless Mondays” or have adopted the vegan diet temporarily for the health benefits. It’s your choice!
Peace. Love. Vegan.
