BET’s “Being Mary Jane” already started the campaign trail to promote its second season last year, however, the network has now dropped an extended sneak peek of the well-received show.
The 90-minute pilot made its debut in early July of 2013. The series didn’t premiere until January of last year.
Mara Brock Akil created “Being Mary Jane” along with hit shows like “The Game” and “Girlfriends.”
When the pilot garnered positive reviews from critics, BET decided to pick up the show for season’s one and two after a strong ratings hold of 4 million viewers.
“Being Mary Jane” stars Gabrielle Union as a successful broadcaster dealing with her family, professional and love life as she searches for “Mr. Right.”
Upon its debut, fans immediately were drawn to Union’s triangle between co-stars Omari Hardwick (Andre) and Stephen Bishop (David).
Hardwick’s plotline eventually ended due to obligations on the hit STARZ original show “Power.”
However, Bishop is still on board after a cliffhanger where he ended up with a new blond as his love interest who may be pregnant.
In the clip below, fans will see Mary Jane entertain guests at her “fabulous” house and while enjoying the wine, a bit too much perhaps, she exploits her younger brother’s personal habits openly:
“Being Mary Jane” also stars Lisa Vidal and iconic-veteran actors Margaret Avery of “The Color Purple” and Richard Roundtree of “Shaft.”
Union has already snagged a NACCP Image Award nomination for her role on the popular show.
Fans can catch Mary Jane’s return on the small screen Feb. 3.
