Kettia Fenestor, or should we call her Hair By: Kettia, is not only an award-winning hair stylist to the stars, or just a seasoned stylist at New York Fashion Week. She is a beauty mogul on the rise, whose “Mane Fetish” for hair is just the beginning for what this beauty ambassador has planned for the New Year. Kettia goes on to talk about her brand, style, and motivation on pursuing such a broad yet lucrative and hairy career.
“I got my start in 2011, I decided that I wanted to get into the beauty industry, because everything about it was fascinating to me.”
With a resume that exceeds many others in just a small amount of time, from being Salon Manager at Robesteur Salon in Manchester, NH to Key Head Stylist at New York Fashion Week. Kettia has really worked her way up in the beauty industry. From salon work to even educating future stylists, Kettia goes on to explain how she eventually made her way onto the heads of some of our favorite stars.
“Fashion Week is super amazing.”
“You get the opportunity to build relationships and meet new people. It’s just really fun especially if you’re open to learning new things which I think is very crucial in the beauty industry because it changes so much, you got to keep up. I’ve done about four seasons of it and one year the Beauty Director that I was working with felt that my skills were good enough to start working with celebrity clients and that’s pretty much how I was able to work with celebrities like Claudia Jordan and Dimitria McKinney.”
With a bright career beginning to unfold, grasping recognition from many media platforms like Beauty Entertainment Magazine. It would only be smart for Kettia to capitalize on her fast recognition with the creation of her own hair branding company, “Mane Fetish”.
“My brand is called Mane Fetish.”
“You know nowadays, we’re all obsessed with something and for many ladies hair is one of them. We’re always wanting to dye it, pin it, curl it, cut it etc. You know we all have some type of fetish when it comes to our hair, so that’s why I wanted to call my hair extension line Mane Fetish.”
“We carry a line of unprocessed 100% virgin hair, and we also carry a collection that’s pre-colored. They’re so many things you can do with hair extensions including altering them and curling them as well as switching them up as many times as you want. So you can definitely expect to see more variations of cuts and colors in the spring.”
As you can see this beauty expert knows what she’s talking about. Speaking of the upcoming spring season, Kettia weighs in on what hairstyle she believes every woman should be rocking this upcoming spring season
“I love edgy looks, anything with a lot of texture, that’s my style.”
“However people today are really starting to go back to a simpler look, straight bangs is definitely hot right now, ponytails, anything that looks clean and simple for the spring.”
Perhaps the busiest woman in the beauty game right now, constantly grinding and pursuing the dream of building her own brand into the empire she foresees. Kettia goes on to explain what keeps her motivated in doing what she’s so talented and passionate at.
“Work definitely keeps me motivated.”
“I’m still very active in the salon and people are always inspired to see more trends so it’s just really being creative, being able to express my creativity through my work, keeping in contact with other artists as well that are innovative, you know things like that. Basically anything to keep the juices flowing in your brain so that you can keep coming up with new ideas.”
So what’s next for Kettia do you ask? With the many business endeavors, this superstar hair stylist could maneuver incorporating makeup and hair into one big beauty empire.
“I definitely want my brand to be worldwide, you know a household name, and for people to embrace my brand as if it’s there everyday go to, you know as if it’s something that they need to have.”
